Aequitas Capital Celebrates Almost 20 years in Business with an Updated Look, an Evolved Mission, and a Focus on Growth
Portland, Oregon – March 14th, 2011 - In late 2010 we decided that small but meaningful updates to our corporate image would ensure that the Aequitas brand continues to not only embrace our heritage in ways that reflect our core values, but also to ensure we remain relevant and poised for future growth and scalability. We are pleased to announce that the first part of that process has been completed and we will continue to roll these changes out in the coming months.
What is Aequitas Capital?
We first revisited the question “What is Aequitas?” Aequitas Capital is an investment management firm that creates unique and innovative opportunities. We leverage technology, a lending subsidiary, and an elite partner network with a focus on undervalued niche strategies and capital protection. We feel this signifies not only where we are currently, but where we are heading as well.

Our History
Nearly twenty years ago we began our journey as an investment management firm from Oregon. A long way from the financial hubs of New York and Chicago, we set ourselves apart from the other financial firms in our market. We grounded ourselves on the foundation of insight, toughness, a focus on technology, and the entrepreneurial spirit.
Aequitas Capital continues to evolve and grow as a company. Over the years we’ve added new employees, new offices, and new clients and relationships. Our partnerships and success stories continue to grow, exemplified today in our broad list of custodian relationships and our long awaited Goldman Sachs facility. We are proud of our team and our custodian relationships, allowing us to provide our investment opportunities in conjunction with their custody services. Despite our tremendous growth and maturity over the last 20 years, our corporate identity has changed little. Whether you look at our logo, our marketing collateral, or our website, our identity has not kept pace with our personality. Today, that changes.
We’ve taken a thorough look at our identity and our personality. Our sights for business growth remain high and with that spirit, we carefully worked and re-worked aligning our identity with future growth. Today we’re excited to share the new face of Aequitas and who we fundamentally are. Our passion for innovation never dies and we know our best days are still ahead of us.
This new corporate imagery and messaging, allows us to do four things:
1. It embraces and respects our heritage.
2. It allows us to evolve and grow into new strategies, markets, and opportunities.
3. It highlights our core pyramid of investment management, lending, and sales, marketing and product development.
4. It speaks to our entrepreneurship, our toughness, and our insight.
Our Thought Process
From top to bottom, we’ve taken a look at our corporate identity and not only brought this both in line with our core values, but where we’re looking to expand to. At the outset, we wanted to start with “why?”, “why do you exist?”, and “why should that inspire me?” The “why” of Aequitas is not solely about profit. Profit is a byproduct. It is about opportunity and finding the best of both.
Our Message Is Clear

We use innovation and imagination to conceive and achieve things that did not exist before. That is what drives us. Next, we looked specifically at “how” we conduct business and the uniqueness of the process. We combine our investment management business and our lending business into a cohesive unit. Then we add our partner network, a technology layer, our insight, and a toughness to create what we like to call “The Aequitas Engine”.
Today we leverage our engine and invest in healthcare credit strategies and private credit opportunities. As we continue to grow and expand, so will the direction and scope of our investments.
We are always looking for opportunities to partner with the right firms. Our focus is to build on our relationships we have with investment advisors, family offices, insurance agents, and fund managers just to name a few.
Starting this spring 2011, you’ll begin to see our transition and evolution across all of our brand properties. What we created in the “AE” will come to represent our culture, our passion, and our business.
